Inside My Makeup Bag | Novice Tutorial Video

Full disclosure, I am not good with makeup. I know how to use it…. mostly. But I’ve always just purchased random pieces of makeup I think I need and have gone from there.

I do not know how to contour my face (I pretend). And I’ve never done a successful smokey eye (I always end up looking like I just got into a fight with a stranger down a back alley). So, when my makeup guru friend Jocelyn found out I’d been faking make up all this time, she made me come over to her house and bring my makeup bag (ok, bags). Surely, she would be able to find some rhyme or reason in my makeup bag.

I’m slightly embarrassed. I mean my bronzer and one of my blushes are broken into just powder. And bless Jocelyn’s heart, she actually took the time to try to make my makeup bag work for a quick makeup tutorial. If you didn’t think I could be more of a mess, just watch the video.

Oh yeah, and my hair is black now. Boom! Take that fall. I have black hair now!

July Stitch Fix Unboxing

I got my second Stitch Fix in the mail! Eekk! So excited since the last one had that fabulous polka dot skirt in it.

The Stitch Fix Low-Down

For those of you who don’t know how Stitch Fix works, you fill out a personal questionnaire about your style, send them a Pinterest board of your fashion likes (see mine), then pay $20 for their stylist to send you five items. You decide if you want them to send you pants, skirts, dresses, tops, jewelry, etc. Once you receive your box, you can try on all the items, keep what you want, and send back the rest. You only pay for what you keep, and the $20 styling fee goes right toward your purchase so you don’t lose the money!

July Stitch Fix

Soft Tee Stitch Fix Blue Shorts

Market & Spruce Sam Hi-Lo Short Sleeve Tee – $44

I want to live in this shirt! This is the softest tee I have ever worn. And it drapes amazing! The front is shorter than the back, so it has a little bit of a style to it other than being just a plain tee shirt. I could sleep in this shirt and then wear it to work. That’s how amazing it is.

Skies are Blue Lya Geo Print Short – $38

Love these, still unsure how I feel about keeping them, but they’re adorable. Although you can see the pockets through, there’s a lining in the shorts, so there’s no way you’re going to see my underwear. I’ve noticed a lot of lighter colored shorts end up being see through, not the case with these. Also, the elastic band is amazing!

stitch Fix Maxi Dress

Market & Spruce Dafne Chevron Maxi Dress – $88

First off, $88?! Woah, I am not made of money here. I almost didn’t try on the dress just for the fact that the price tag was so high. Scary. It did fit pretty well, just long on me. I love the top half much better than the other maxi I got in my last Stitch Fix. But unless I was buying everything for the 25% off, I was not getting this at all.

GeoPrintStitchFixTop

Romolo Aliya Mixed Enamel Bangel Set – $48

Super cute, stretchy with a Moroccan vibe to them. But honestly, I don’t need a set of bangles for $48!! Going back.

Sweet Rain Earlson Split Neck Blouse – $44

My hips, ugh. See, this top is supposed to flow all the way down, and it gets caught on my curves at the hem. It needs to be wider for me at the bottom. Such a disappointment, because with my awesome new red hair, I want to love it!! Gahhhh.

If you want to use Stitch Fix, please us my referral code by clicking here. Then message me or comment below or on my YouTube videos to let me know what you got. I love seeing everyone’s boxes!

Chocolate Protein Powder Pancakes

I’ve been trying to find some new ways to use my chocolate protein powder (ProFlex 20 from Melaleuca) instead of just making shakes and keep seeing these “recipes” for protein powder pancakes. The problem is, when I tried many of them, they just said to add water. It was not tasty and felt like the protein powder pancakes were missing something.

So I added a bit of vanilla extract and some honey to change up the flavor and I think I got something that works! Topped with a bit of jam or jelly and it’s a quick protein breakfast bite.

Chocolate Protein Powder Pancakes

1 scoop chocolate ProFlex20
1 scoop of water
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp honey

Combine ingredients until mixed into a thick batter. Add spoonful sized cakes to an already heated pan. Cook for three minutes on one side, or until cakes can be flipped easily. Cook for another three minutes. Remove, serve with raspberry jelly or jam.

Personal Best: Back Squats And Everproven

Sometimes you just have to set your mind on something and do it.

Ever since starting Crossfit, I’ve been torn. I want to be fit, but I don’t want to get too muscle-y. I want to go to class, but I want to be confident that I can keep up. I want to pull big weights, but I don’t want to hurt myself. So I’m giving it my best shot, staying optimistic and continuing to go to Everproven for my On Ramp classes with Coach Kate.

Tonight, I learned that if you set a goal and commit to it, you can reach it. Even a little goal. Which honestly is the best thing I’ve heard lately since I’ve been down about hitting my weight goal.

At Everproven tonight we were worked on back squats. Now the last time I did back squats, I had maxed out at 65 pounds. Not because I couldn’t handle it, but because we were working me up, little by little. And today I started off with 65 pounds, threw down 5 reps no problem and looked to Coach Kate for advice and the go-ahead to add more weight.

Kate has helped keep me confident that I can do anything I put my mind to. And today, it was her saying that she thought I could back squat 100 pounds. 100 pounds, really? Has she seen me?  I don’t actually think she thought I’d do it today though. I think she was saying I would eventually work my way up to it. But I got it into my head that I was going to do it.

But we kept micro-plating (adding 5 pounds at a time to the bar), until I was at 75 pounds, then 85 pounds, then 90, 95, and finally 100 pounds. Kate told me I only had to do one rep at 100, but I couldn’t help myself. Once I finished the first one, I wanted to do another back squat. I realized I could do a third, a fourth, and finished my set with a fifth.

It was this exhilarating feeling, though, being able to complete a goal, even a little one. And I wish we had filmed me doing the 100 pound set, but Kate was super spotting me and holding a camera was not in the cards. We did get the 75 pound set though!

My next goal, a one max rep of 150.
