Valentine’s Day Outfits

I’ve had my ups and downs on Valentine’s Day for sure. When I was in third grade, I still remember getting a Valentine with a neatly drawn broken heart on it. Serves me for breaking up with a boy less than a week before card handout day.

This year, I know I won’t get a broken heart on a card, because my boyfriend is taking me out. Yup, that’s all he told me. No idea where we’re going, if I need to get dressed up, or if I can slum it in a pair of yoga pants. So off to Loft to battle this issue with a few outfit choices.

Outfit 1: Boyfriend Jeans and Some Love

So to be fair, I started simple, since I might need a comfy outfit. Don’t know if he’s dragging me to the movies or bowling, can’t rule that out. Add in some popcorn (ok, a lot of popcorn), and he’s a happy camper. Doesn’t take much. For me, I still want to look cute, so I found this new T-shirt with sketched on hearts, popped on some bracelets and pulled my hair up into a headband. Simple, cute, and not too “HEY-IT’S-VALENTINES-DAY, WHY-AREN’T-WE-CELEBRATING-WITH-FLOWERS-AND-PINK-AND-RED-EVERYWHERE?” Not that I want that, just saying I’m not getting all mushy for a dark theater.

Outfit 2: Upgrade Me To Dinner

So there is nothing wrong with the previous scenario, but on the off chance he wants to show me off, I thought, why not add a little bit more sparkle into the mix and step up the outfit. So we grabbed this white sweater and a pair of skinny jeans, then beelined it for the jewelry so I could glitter a bit.

Also, any of you Loft girls out there know I’m a sucker for a good belt. When all else fails, belt it! And that’s exactly what I said when I put on the necklace and thought, “Something is missing.” (Not gonna lie, really love this look!)

Outfit 3: Out on the Town

To start, I know I have red hair now, which ultimately means I should not be wearing pink. Just clashes with my hair. But, it’s Valentine’s Day, and everything is pink and red, so why not me? Also, it’s good to know that I do not normally wear pink. It’s been slowly creeping into my wardrobe, but not at the rate of having a dress completely pink. But I thought, what the heck, why not do it for the holiday?

So we paired it with this really sweet polka dot jacket to separate my hair from the dress and then popped on a blue necklace to pull it all together.

Poppin’ Collars – Loft Deal

photo

I’ve got a Loft surprise for you all! With our new line of button-ups in at my Newington shop, I’ve been given free reign to try on some layered looks and offer you all up an exclusive discount, just for my blog followers to use in-store!

As many of you know, I have been a Loft girl since high school when my mom bought me my first Ann Taylor skirt (which I still own, and still wear). Currently, I work a few evenings at the Fox Run Mall, and my manager is being kind enough to share a 20% off coupon just for you guys! You can use it on full-price items, just tell them you’re one of “Roni’s Gals” and sign-up with your email at checkout for upcoming deals.

What my manager hasn’t realized is that I secretly spend hours making myself outfits (mostly looking for new pins on inspiration on Pinterest) and when given the opportunity to try on our new items, I really can’t say no. So we compromised, I’d try something I’m not used to doing – layering in this case – for my next blog post, she’d give us a deal.

Layering is a concept I’m pretty foreign to, that whole putting a sweater over a button-up usually makes me cringe and turn away. But I agreed, as long as she didn’t make me look too preppy. The results, kind of interesting. I must add that I am buying one of these outfits. Help me pick which one??

Blue Prep
Baby blue – not my typical go to. Anyone who knows me rarely sees me in bright hues, but I have to say, paired with the white button-up, not bad for my first go. Topped off with our new gemstone necklace. (We can also tell in this picture that I’m in dire need to get my hair cut – yikes!)

Cardy-Hardy-Har-Har
Darker hues, a pop of polka dot, all topped off with a playful scarf. Have to admit, I think I own about 30 scarves, so this look is seriously something I can work on the right day.

Sweater Weather (Stripes)
The shirt is actually a little bit more purple than blue, but just the right shade to match this button up I popped under it. Topped with my new favorite Loft shades (cat print and glitter!!) and a Lia Sophia necklace, I’m rating this one pretty darn good.

So how did I do on layering, ladies? Which one should I get? If you like any of these looks, just ask the ladies and they’ll help you find these tops.

Help: Finding My 2013 Holiday Outfit

I’m at a standstill. I don’t know what to wear for my holiday party. It’s in a week and I’ve gone through about 10 different outfits. I already thought about renting a dress from Rent the Runway, then thought better of it. I shopped on Black Friday and found nothing. I’ve even scoured Pinterest for inspiration. So I’m asking you, friends. What should I wear?

To give you an idea of what I’m looking for, this is a work party. So it has to be classy, but it can totally be fun. My office is awesome, fairly laid back, and totally female-driven. That means looking my best is a must. As someone who typically dresses other people (yay Loft!), when it comes to myself, I’m a bit stuck on what I should do.

The ladies at Loft created a few outfits for me to test out. So I’m curious what your thoughts are. These are three totally different looks, but all holiday party appropriate. Mostly, it’s talking, snacking on apps, drinking a few fizzy cocktails, and a bit of dancing. So I need to be comfortable, but not too casual.

These are the three we came up with (click the images to see the Polyvore Sets):

My party is Dec. 13, so send in your votes. I’m hoping to decide soon and would love input!

** Also, heads up that there will be a Style Event at the Newington Loft on Thursday, Dec. 12, the day before my party for 25% off full-priced items! Sweet deals on these New Arrivals and get styled by the girls! Just tell them your event. Open a card and get another 15% off all of the total after savings, too! Tell them Roni sent you!**
