This is a public service announcement. If you didn’t get what you wanted for Christmas, you need to do this for next year. For you, for your family, for your boyfriend.
Let me back up. For the last two years, I’ve been creating a Christmas list pin board on Pinterest for myself mostly. And I sort of forgot about it. I change it throughout the year, adding items, deleting things I no longer want. However, there was one person who did not forget about that board: My boyfriend, who on Christmas eve, fought through the crowds to finish up his shopping, then locked himself in the garage while he wrapped everything.
I imagine him, elbowing his way through the crowded stores, iPhone high in the air, as he searched through Macy’s for the last of his Christmas gifts. I imagine this, because he proudly told me how he used my Pinterest board as his shopping list. It warms my heart, seriously.
I couldn’t figure out how he had realized I wanted a new pair of Victoria’s Secret yoga pants (let alone know what size I needed), sweater tights, and OPI nail polish. He even asked the lady for the specific color I had pinned, which he learned is no longer made.
He informed me he was hitting himself for accidentally leaving the Carmex on a shelf when he readjusted everything he was carrying. Honestly, it was the thought that counts.
So I’m telling you this for Christmas next year, make a pin board. Because even if you don’t tell anyone about it (which you should, just in case), those resourceful people in your life will find it, use it, and make your holiday that much more special.
