Flight Day and Travel Clothes

I’m about to hit the road for a really quick weekend trip for Easter. Can you guess where I’m going? Did my Minnie shirt give me away? You got it, I’m off to Florida where I hear the weather is in the 80s. Quite a jump from New Hampshire which as I write this is a lovely 45 degrees. Still warm, but I will be sweating by this afternoon.

And I don’t know about you all, but when it comes to traveling, I am not the kind of person to get all dolled up for a flight. All you fashion bloggers who put on a cute dress and pack your adorable luggage, then wear heels to the airport… bless your heart, but I’m not doing it.

Even with my direct flight, I still want to be comfortable the entire way. Yoga pants, a comfy top, and slip-on shoes. Put a coffee in my hand and I’m ready to go. I think my Victoria’s Secret yoga pants are by far my favorite piece of travel clothes, and slip-on shoes are a must. Sorry-not-sorry guy who sits next to me on the plane, I will not be wearing shoes for the entire flight.

See you all when I land. Until then, this is my go-to attire, what’s yours? What’s your “can’t live without it” travel item?

Shades of Green | St. Patrick’s Day Inspiration

When I was younger (oh, maybe like two years ago), I often found myself a day-deep in pints of Blue Moons and Guinness, dressed head-to-toe in green, and pretending to be Irish. To be fair, it was once a year as St. Patrick’s Day rolled around, either a full weekend of celebrating my non-heritage with corned beef and cabbage, or one day fighting the Boston crowds and trying to make sure I didn’t miss my train home.

I’m a little older, a little wiser, and certainly couldn’t last until 1 a.m. at the bar anymore. Believe me, I’ve tried. On the verge of 30, and I’m already throwing in the towel. But it doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate in a much more refined, mature means: Like shopping for anything and everything green. My wallet is no less hit this time of year.

So, instead of looking for an emerald green “Kiss Me I’m Irish” T-shirt, I’m dulling the hue for shades of green more appropriate forthe workplace, a night out with just one glass of beer, or watching The Matchmaker with my girlfriends at home.

Two Audrey Hepburn Looks For Your Closet

Audrey Hepburn was and is the epitome of classic elegance. She makes plaid shirts look sexy, without even trying. Her makeup is flawless. And if I wanted to, I couldn’t pull off that mini bang, but I’d sure like to try. She does, however, give my big furry (but groomed) brows, a run for their money.

I can’t even compare another modern actress to Hepburn. Even today, if you’re looking for a “classic look,” all you have to do is Google an image of Audrey Hepburn. It’s all there: black and white, or color. Simple, classic, elegance.

Owl Cookie Jars

We have an owl infestation in our home. Ok, we have an owl decor infestation in our home. It’s a running joke with Andy and I, because if it was up to me, we’d have foxes everywhere. Most of the owls are actually in his daughter Ezra‘s room. She has an owl nightlight, owl pajamas, owl books, owl sheets. You get the idea, there’s owls everywhere.

We even have an owl cookie jar. Which, I admit, is pretty darn cute, and I honestly don’t use it enough. I’d share where to get it, but everywhere I look is sold out online and it appears to have been a gift picked up at Kohls.

With the Super Bowl this last Sunday (Go, Pats!) we actually had an opportunity to fill it. I made homemade chocolate chip cookies for the game. Delicious, not healthy at all, and I kinda wish the owl could just make them disappear so I don’t eat them all.

Anyway, it got me thinking about cookie jars. And I wondered, how many owl cookie jars could there be. So I went “dream shopping” for more and found these gems. Adorable, right? Which one would you pick? Continue Reading
