LOFT Safari Fashion

Every time I go to work at LOFT, I feel like I’m about to go on a Safari. I’m not complaining, I actually really love everything about the new Safari-themed line. There’s bright colors, fun prints, and pieces that I actually am obsessing over. It’s the first time in a long time that I’ve really loved over 75 percent of the clothes coming in. Let’s be honest, you can’t love everything.

Crossfit: Handstand Holds

I almost forgot to post about this! Which is insane because it’s all I’ve been talking about all week. I’m pretty sure everyone is getting sick of hearing me talk about handstand holds and Crossfit. But honestly, it’s the one thing in my life right now that’s keeping me sane.

This week I had my second to last On Ramp class. I don’t want to have to go to class yet. I really do enjoy my one-on-one classes. But I do know that is going to have to end sometime soon. At least I know I’m ready.

The one thing that we tried was getting myself up into a handstand on the wall. I’ve been told only one other On Ramp individual at Everproven has been able to get into a handstand and stay there during On Ramp. Turns out, I don’t like anyone to have anything to themselves and wanted to prove I could do it, too. So I worked at it, then got it in my head that I would get myself up on that wall one way or another.

The first time I tried, I flopped. Seriously, just pancaked onto the ground. My arm just gave up and buckled. Coach Kate was trying everything since I refused to give up. So we convinced Coach Scott to help assist (meaning pull my legs up so I was in a handstand) and feel what it would be like. Let me tell you, it was way less scarier than I thought it would be. And we even figured out how to get me to kick myself up.

I ended up setting up in a runner’s pose with my arms locked (that’s the key!) into a high V (yay, cheerleading). I don’t know how else to describe it, other than I prepped myself as if I would be starting a track race with one knee bent and the other straight. Then I used my bent leg to push myself up and threw my legs over my back and toward the wall. It took a couple tries, but I did it.

And the first time I got up there on my own, I was all excited that I forgot I had no idea how to get down. Umm, Coach Kate? Now what?!

I kind of folded down from the wall after a 20 second hold. Then did two more, one of which I’m very sure ran upwards of the 30 second mark because Kate peace-d it for a second to go get her phone to take the above picture. I’m not mad, more super excited, because this means I can skip box push-ups and work on my strength to move to handstand push-ups. I’m actually excited to go back to Everproven just so I can try these again!

Wantable Fitness Subscription Test

So, it’s starting. I’m taking the leap to try the Wantable Monthly Fitness Edit. What it means is I’m willingly shelling out $20 for the company to “style” me a box of 5 fitness items (tops, workout shoes, pants, shorts, etc.) I receive five items in the mail, try on everything, and send back what I don’t want. I put the $20 I paid toward whatever items I purchase.

Now, I’m skeptical. I’ve watched a lot of really varying reviews about the service, from one woman who clearly did not know what she was committing to and hated it, to the lady who is pretty much going to purchase everything the sent her (even though it was going to cost her over $250).

But I’m in need of more workout clothing. I’m obsessed with my Victoria’s Secret workout pants, but would love to see what’s out there. It’s getting kind of sad that I wear the same pair, every time I work out. I love them, but if they’re anything like the yoga pants, I’m going to need a few more pair and I’d love to see what else is out there. I just don’t have the time to shop.

The beauty is, all I had to do was spend a little time telling them the price range I was willing to spend, what types of items I’d like to receive (tops, hoodies, pants, undergarments, etc.) and if I preferred neutral colors and/or vibrant brights.

So in the next few weeks I’ll give all of you an update on what I receive in my fashion fitness subscription, what I think about the service, and if I actually buy anything from them. Until then, feel free to check out their site buy clicking here! If you order, let me know what you think!

Herb Crusted Pork Loin

Lately, I have no time. It feels like Andy and I are non-stop running. We’re either doing photo shoots, running photo booths, heading to Crossfit, doing errands, or trying to get a quick load of laundry in. Even on my days off, I’m working. I’m not complaining as much as finally realizing that I need a few short cuts, especially in the kitchen.

Which is where this recipe came in. Andy had picked up a pork loin from the grocery store because it was cheap at only $1.99 a pound. I have never cooked a pork loin, so I was super confused and at first a little scared I was going to find myself in the kitchen for two hours prepping it. But a quick Pinterest search later and I realized it’s probably the best kept secret in the grocery store (as long as you eat pork).

All I needed was herbs, some olive oil, and tin foil. So I raided my spice rack and came up with this herb mix. It’s Andy and Ezra approved. Oh yeah, and Paleo.

Herb Crusted Pork Loin

Gather
1 1/2 pound pork loin
1/2 tablespoon dried thyme
1/2 tablespoon dried parsley
1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/2 teaspoon ground sea salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon oregano
2 tablespoons olive oil

Preheat oven to 425 F. Combine spices in a small food processor to blend until combined, or use a kitchen knife to chop by hand so rosemary is broken into small pieces with other herbs. Place in a bowl.

Add olive oil to the herb mixture and mix to combine until it is a paste-like consistency. Place the pork loin on a baking sheet covered with foil. Rub the oil and herb mix over the entire surface of the pork. Place in oven and roast for 35-45 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees. (You can use a meat thermometer to verify, but most likely if the outside is brown and inside is white, it should be done.  Allow the pork loin to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
