Vintage or Modern – Floral Shift Dress

Just because it’s turning to fall weather, doesn’t mean the flowers have to go away. And I stumbled upon this pretty 1960s floral shift dress from It’s Vintage Darling. Very sweet dress, that I saw and had to pick for this week’s Vintage or Modern pair up.

It’s super sweet, with its airy floral pattern, and I just love the cut. Plus, (for all you fashionistas out there that say fashion is too expensive for something preworn), it’s only $121 and in good condition for being almost 60 years old! Can you even imagine the stories it could tell if it could talk? I like to pretend it’s seen a fair amount of afternoon teas or spring barbecues. Just lovely!

So now it’s your turn, which of the three do you love?

Vintage or Modern: Pink Tulle Dress

I have a slight obsession with tulle. Evidence: I know how to make tutus in no time flat and if you even slightly mention that you need a tutus for something (be it for your child, Halloween, or even your dog), I’ll probably make you one.

So when I saw this lovely 1950s gold and pink tulle dress, I knew it was the perfect dress for Vintage or Modern. I mean, it’s kind of hard to beat this this dress, don’t you think? I’ve been all over the Internet trying to find a comparison, and I can’t. I can find pink skirts, but not an entire dress that I’m dying over. These two modern finds were the best I could do. So what do you think, which would you pick?

Vintage or Modern: Lace Romper

So I think the last of these posts was fairly successful. Find a fabulous retro outfit, then see what modern offspring it has. You tell me what you like better, the original look, or a modern twist? I’ve pulled a cream lace romper this time, from Adored Vintage. Just love all the cute clothes they have. Their blog is fairly active, too, and their Facebook page is just a precious collection of “new” vintage they got in as well as some vintage photography. Love!

So for my pick is this fabulous little number with a peek-a-boo detail. I couldn’t help pick it. Yes, I know you probably wouldn’t be wearing this out and about at the bar, but at home around the house, or maybe for a pretty boudoir session, heck yes!

I think my last choice is the most practical. Share and comment on which you’d choose.

Vintage or Modern: Polka Dots

I’m a sucker for nice things. Albeit, I can’t afford them, but I still value their beauty. Like vintage. It’s irreplaceable, it’s like you’re wearing a piece of history. Who wore this gem before me and where did they go? Who was the woman before me? Was she bold and sassy? Or prim and quiet?

That’s the beauty of buying vintage. There’s a story with every piece, whether it’s a scarf or a fur-lined jacket. I still have a few of my mom’s old clothes, a few crop tops that I’m sure were beachwear-fabulous in the 1970s. And her black and grey scarf from the 1980s, I have that too. Pulled from the closet as a teenager and kept, because, frankly, I can’t find anything as warm or pretty anywhere else.

So I thought I’d give my go at finding a variation of looks inspired by one vintage outfit. Then you pick, do you want the vintage look or the modern day inspiration? Leave a comment on which one you’d pick.
