Halloween Party Planning – Graveyard Dirt

Image

You’d never know that Milano cookies make the perfect gravestones, but they do!

Oh goodness, I love this one! My co-worker actually did this, but it came out great and had to share it! And it’s quick (as long as you remember to use instant pudding.) 🙂

What you’ll need:

Two boxes of instant chocolate pudding
Milk for the pudding
Milano cookies
Black icing (the kind you can buy in the cake aisle at the grocery store that is already made for you)
Oreo cookies
Duff Chocolate Rocks
Gummy Worms

Get a very large serving bowl, glass of course, so you can see the dirt. Pour your two already made batches of instant chocolate pudding in the bottom, dropping gummy worms in the mix as you go.

On the side, bash some Oreos in a bag to get them all crumbly. See exhibit A:

Get your anger out in a healthy way. Bash this.

Pour the crumbled Oreos on top of the pudding.

Next, write “RIP” on the top half of the milano cookies. You can then stick them into the “dirt” you’ve created. Top with some of the Duff chocolate rocks and you’ve got yourself a tasty graveyard! Party ready and a hit with the kids.

Halloween Party Planning – Pumpkin Treats

20121021-101935.jpg

Aren’t these adorable? So easy to make, especially if you already know how to make a Rice Krispy Treat.

What you’ll need:
3 Tablespoons Margarine or Butter
1 package of 10 oz regular marshmallows
6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
orange food coloring (or both yellow and red)
Mini Tootsie Rolls
Green Airhead

Melt butter and marshmallows over low to medium heat in a sauce pan. When melted, add some orange food coloring until you get everything melted down. Add the cereal, one cup at a time and stir in.

Melt down the butter.

Grab a scoop of the mixture and make into a ball, Place into a cooking sprayed muffin pan, the ball should fill just over the top. Press into the pan so the top is flattened a bit.

Cut tootsie rolls in half, place one in the top of each ball. Cut Airheads into small squares. Pinch opposite ends of the square to make it extend. You will notice that it will look like a leaf. Put two on each “pumpkin.”

All mixed up.

And there you go. So easy. Maybe I shouldn’t have shared my secret…. hmmmm

Pumpkin Cheeseball

I like to play with my food. Ok, I said it. Admitting you have a problem is the first step. So when I saw this pumpkin shaped cheeseball on Pinterest, I HAD to make it for the party. (No pumpkins were harmed in the making of this appetizer.)

Gather the above plus some shredded cheddar, taco seasoning, and Saran Wrap. So in total, you should have:

16 oz cream cheese
1/4 cup shredded cheddar
2 tablespoons taco seasoning
Quarter of a jalepeno, diced
Doritos
Quarter (or a little less) of an onion, diced
The top of a pepper, set aside
Saran Wrap

Mix all but the top of the pepper and the Saran Wrap. Once mixed, place in Saran Wrap and form a ball.

Place in fridge unless cream cheese is hard and won’t lose shape. Begin mashing of Doritos.

Roll unwrapped ball into Doritos. Set on plate, insert pepper top to cheeseball. Ta-dah!! Awesome fall appetizer in less than 10 minutes!

Pickin’ Apples

My favorite part of autumn is enjoying the outdoors – the leaves, the cool weather, and the fact that I can wear sweaters again. (Yay!)

So when I was offered the chance to go apple picking, I pulled on my favorite sweater and topped it with a warm trench. The only choice we had was buying half a peck or a peck of apples. I still have no idea what a “peck” consists of, but its a bag of apples, either way, and I’m leaving it at that.

So many apples, so little time.

We just strollin’ along through the apple orchards.

I think I got as many as possible into that bag…. Notice the absurdly large Golden Delicious poking out of the bag.

I’ll be searching for ways to use these apples. Got lots of different kinds, including Golden Delicious that are about the size of a baby’s head, no joke.
