Vintage or Modern: Lace Romper

So I think the last of these posts was fairly successful. Find a fabulous retro outfit, then see what modern offspring it has. You tell me what you like better, the original look, or a modern twist? I’ve pulled a cream lace romper this time, from Adored Vintage. Just love all the cute clothes they have. Their blog is fairly active, too, and their Facebook page is just a precious collection of “new” vintage they got in as well as some vintage photography. Love!

So for my pick is this fabulous little number with a peek-a-boo detail. I couldn’t help pick it. Yes, I know you probably wouldn’t be wearing this out and about at the bar, but at home around the house, or maybe for a pretty boudoir session, heck yes!

I think my last choice is the most practical. Share and comment on which you’d choose.

Lounge Wear Style Up

Lou & Grey Mix Up Style

{Shop the Look} Top: Lou & Grey Painter Popover | Loft Skirt | Necklace: Similar Necklace: Kendra Scott Kiri Teardrop

I have a not-so-secret aversion to Loft’s Lou & Grey line. Not because I hate it, I don’t, but because I’m not the kind of person to put on lounge wear and go outside. It’s hard for me to transition from even denim to wearing sweats out. Yes, I’ve done it, but I think I go to the extreme, and wear yoga pants to the supermarket. (Guilty, I know.)

So Jocelyn wanted to style me in something, and I gave in. Let’s just say her style is not my style, so I was super hesitant to let her dress me. She’s a lot more adventurous than I, which I admire, but pairing lounge with dress? I got scared.

I stood in the fitting room for a bit staring at the items, a bit afraid of what it would look like together. But I reminded myself of all the times I’ve told people, “you have to see it on.” And so, I took the plunge, walked out, and was pleasantly surprised.

Please ignore my hair, I was having an off hair day (and Jocelyn also told me I’m washing my hair too much, but that’s a post for another day as I’m currently testing out the theory and scared for what my hair looks like.).

Anyway, I kind of like this look. Thoughts?

Vintage or Modern: Polka Dots

I’m a sucker for nice things. Albeit, I can’t afford them, but I still value their beauty. Like vintage. It’s irreplaceable, it’s like you’re wearing a piece of history. Who wore this gem before me and where did they go? Who was the woman before me? Was she bold and sassy? Or prim and quiet?

That’s the beauty of buying vintage. There’s a story with every piece, whether it’s a scarf or a fur-lined jacket. I still have a few of my mom’s old clothes, a few crop tops that I’m sure were beachwear-fabulous in the 1970s. And her black and grey scarf from the 1980s, I have that too. Pulled from the closet as a teenager and kept, because, frankly, I can’t find anything as warm or pretty anywhere else.

So I thought I’d give my go at finding a variation of looks inspired by one vintage outfit. Then you pick, do you want the vintage look or the modern day inspiration? Leave a comment on which one you’d pick.

Fall Mixed Prints

Mixed Fall Prints

Desperate Housewives, you’ve got nothing on me. Not in this outfit anyway. This was another style challenge. I picked the newest sweater we got in that I thought no one would touch. I’m not calling it an “ugly sweater,” I’m just saying that I think a lot of you would walk right passed this beauty because it’s an odd color to pair with anything and it’s clearly not an everyday print.

So I challenged myself to find it some friends, and I grabbed the most unlikely skirt I thought I could pair with it. And then I surprised myself. With the help of Stephanie who was working with me the other night, we found the perfect belt to give some room between the prints. And then a long necklace to break up the high neckline. And just as she was about to take my picture, these Jackie O beauties called to me.
