Halloween Costumes – Pirate

So much hairspray, you would never know.

Arrrggh-n’t you ready for Halloween? Ok, cheesy part over. I couldn’t help myself. As I’ve said before, I have three Halloween costumes. Pulled this one out for the first party. It was a hit and didn’t cost me a dime. I have to say though, I don’t know too many people that have a closet that runs the gambit from hippie to old lady to Victorian-era. Mine does.

I gathered the following (plus another maroon scarf and every piece of gold jewelry I owned):

Corset, fluffy white top, scarves, pirate boots

I happen to have a fluffy white hippie top and went perfectly under my corset. The corset, I wore backwards so the ties were in the front, to get that pirate waistband look. I tied the maroon floral scarf around my waist to layer my look. Topped the look with the pirate boots which have been sitting in my closet forever, but were perfect for this.

For my hair, I had my friend curl the heck out of my super fine, super straight hair. Curled and added half a can of hairspray to my do, then pinned a maroon silk scarf in as a headband.

Don’t forget a pair of black or black patterned shorts. (I went with my Gap pair I got this summer. Cotton, flow-y and had a gray pattern on it.)

Top it with every gold necklace I own, and POOF! You’ve got yourself a pirate. See, so easy.

Now, only two more costumes to go. I can’t wait!

Halloween Party Planning – Pumpkin Treats

20121021-101935.jpg

Aren’t these adorable? So easy to make, especially if you already know how to make a Rice Krispy Treat.

What you’ll need:
3 Tablespoons Margarine or Butter
1 package of 10 oz regular marshmallows
6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal
orange food coloring (or both yellow and red)
Mini Tootsie Rolls
Green Airhead

Melt butter and marshmallows over low to medium heat in a sauce pan. When melted, add some orange food coloring until you get everything melted down. Add the cereal, one cup at a time and stir in.

Melt down the butter.

Grab a scoop of the mixture and make into a ball, Place into a cooking sprayed muffin pan, the ball should fill just over the top. Press into the pan so the top is flattened a bit.

Cut tootsie rolls in half, place one in the top of each ball. Cut Airheads into small squares. Pinch opposite ends of the square to make it extend. You will notice that it will look like a leaf. Put two on each “pumpkin.”

All mixed up.

And there you go. So easy. Maybe I shouldn’t have shared my secret…. hmmmm

Halloween Party Planning – Bat Attack

20121018-231701.jpg

Spooky!! Right?

No house is complete without door decor! Had to share this great idea one oft friends had for her door. She cut bats out of black felt and taped them up.

That means they’re good for years to come! And the more the merrier, placing them all over the wall. So fabulous!

Mini Mummy Hotdogs

20121021-100921.jpg

Everything mini is adorable. Nuff said.

For the party we made some mini mummy hotdogs. So cute wrapped up. You can also call these mummy fingers, I guess. Whichever works for you.

Preheat the oven to 350. Then I took a bag of mini hotdogs and put them on a plate to get rid if some of the juice they were packed in.

Take a container of croissants and cut the tube into rings.

We unrolled the ring and then pulled them to make the strings thinner. Then off to wrapping those puppies up.

Don’t worry about being perfect. That’s not the goal. Then bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Serve up with blood… er… ketchup and you’re all set!
